Riga Takes Over 29.10–31.10
On the last weekend of October, Fotografiska Tallinn is handing the reins over to Riga. Riga Takes Over brings together Latvian contemporary art, one of Riga’s hottest kitchens, indie sounds from our southern neighbours, and a taste of the two cities after dark – from Thursday to Saturday and from the exhibition halls all the way up to the rooftop.
On Friday, 30 October, Riga Takes Over moves through the whole house to the rhythm of Fotografiska Night Shift.
In the Emerging Artists exhibition, artists, photography and the audience come together for a free-flowing late-night conversation about self-image – how we construct it, reveal it and explore it through art. Joining the conversation from Latvia is artist Filips Smits.
Truff Le Pig x Fotografiska
Meanwhile, things are already stirring upstairs, where one of the flagships of Riga’s food scene, Truff Le Pig, has moved into the Fotografiska restaurant and bar for the weekend.
Their formula is simple: serious wine, unserious food and a laid-back atmosphere. Head chef Marks Frolovs brings along Truff Le Pig’s playful world of fancy junk food – familiar comfort food with the quality dialled up and a few unexpected twists thrown in.
Friday night comes with a light special menu of Truff-style bites and snacks, available at the bar and making an appearance in the evening’s Chef’s Pick selection too.
The wine is a joint affair, with the Truff Le Pig and Fotografiska sommeliers joining forces. The two houses’ selections merge into one back-to-back wine list, bringing together natural wines, grower Champagnes and bottles from producers who believe sustainability and great wine belong at the same table.
And since Truff Le Pig wouldn’t quite be Truff Le Pig without the right atmosphere, there’s more coming over from Riga than the team itself. The restaurant DJ booth belongs to Latvian DJs and friends of Truff, Toms & Gusts, who arrive with a suitcase full of vinyl and some of Riga’s finest sounds. Records keep spinning until 1 AM.
