Riga Takes Over 29.10–31.10
On the last weekend of October, Fotografiska Tallinn is handing the reins over to Riga. Riga Takes Over brings together Latvian contemporary photography, Riga’s food scene, indie sounds and a taste of the city after dark – from Thursday to Saturday and from the exhibition halls all the way up to the rooftop.

October also marks the end of the inaugural Emerging Artists: Baltics and Finland exhibition at Fotografiska Tallinn, which has put the spotlight on the region’s rising photographic talent – a new generation of bold, fresh perspectives pointing towards new directions and possible futures for photography.
Night Talk October 30, 20:00
On Friday, 30 October, the Emerging Artists exhibition hall hosts a late-night conversation exploring one of the themes that runs strongly through the exhibition: how we construct and reveal ourselves through images. What happens when everyday life meets staging, the documentary meets the imagined, and the camera becomes more than a way of capturing the world – but a way of looking back at ourselves?
There is no predetermined destination or overly rigid framework for the conversation. Like art itself, we’ll let it find its own way.
Joining the conversation are artists from the contemporary art scenes of the Baltics and Finland: Filips Smits (LV), Karl Ketamo (FI) and Anna-Liisa Kree (EE).
– The conversation will be held in English in the exhibition hall on the 3rd floor of Fotografiska Tallinn.
– The lift is available for moving between floors whenever needed or preferred.
– Please note that the conversation may occasionally run a little over schedule – good conversations don’t always fit neatly into a time slot.
– After the talk, stay on for Fotografiska Night Shift. The exhibitions are open until midnight, with the Fotografiska rooftop bar carrying on for another hour past midnight.
Night Shift every Friday at the exhibition hall
As on every Friday, Fotografiska Night Shift keeps the exhibitions open until midnight.
After the talk, wander between the exhibition floors and experience the museum after dark, when the city outside – and Fotografiska itself – slips into a slightly different rhythm. Alongside Emerging Artists, there are three newly opened exhibitions to explore, featuring Vivian Maier, Heikki Leis and Šejla Kamerić.
Night Shift at the rooftop
As the evening unfolds, make your way up to the Fotografiska restaurant and rooftop bar, where Riga DJs Toms & Gusts take over the decks from 20:00–01:00, bringing a suitcase full of vinyl and some of Riga’s finest sounds – from new releases to old Latvian favourites.
Until 23:00, you can also get a taste of Riga food-scene favourite Truff Le Pig, bringing along their playful world of fancy junk food, great wines and signature laid-back atmosphere.
