From 8 PM every Friday, Fotografiska transforms into Night Shift: the museum takes on a different mood — the lights dim, the music gets louder, the drinks a bit bolder, and admission is just €10 from 8 PM onwards.

Shrouded in night, the museum welcomes both spontaneous and carefully planned visits, whether you're looking for a lively experience or something more introspective — all the way until midnight. The exhibitions come alive with a different kind of bar offering unique late-night flavors. Keep your mind and eyes open — the Night Shift at Fotografiska always holds a few surprises.

Henriette Sabroe Ebbesen & Bruce Gilden on the 3rd Floor

On Friday, May 23, Fotografiska’s Night Shift kicks off the summer season with new art: the third floor unveils exhibitions by Henriette Sabroe Ebbesen and Bruce Gilden. Artist Henriette Sabroe Ebbesen will be present for the exhibition opening. A medical doctor by profession, her photographic work has appeared in Vogue — blending science, art, and fashion in a captivating way. She’ll explore this unique intersection with Trickster Magazine editor-in-chief Anne Vetik.

Opening in parallel, Bruce Gilden’s exhibition is her neighbour on the floor but opposite in tone — dark, wild, and intense. A member of the legendary Magnum Photos collective, Gilden is known for his raw, emotionally charged street photography that leaps off the walls. This Friday night, those emotions will hit the floor — literally. Want to know how? Come and see for yourself.

Night Shift continues on the 6th floor until 3 AM

For one night only, the 2nd-floor exhibition bar moves to the 3rd floor and offers a menu inspired by the new exhibitions. The evening continues in Fotografiska’s rooftop bar — and it stretches late into the night. DJ Kristopher Luigend (Haigla Pidu) will provide the soundtracks, and if the weather plays along, it just might become the season’s first terrace party.

BRUCE GILDEN ‘Why These?’, May 23 – October 26

Bruce Gilden’s fiercely bold exhibition 'Why These?' shines a light on the broad spectrum of society, bringing to center stage real people from back alleys, everyday life, and the raw, unvarnished realities of street culture. With his provocative, close-up style and dark humor, Gilden serves a brighter purpose – to foster greater understanding between people. By exposing what lies just beneath the surface, he captures the fears that shape how we see ourselves and those around us.

HENRIETTE SABROE EBBESEN ‘Kaleidoscope’, May 23 – September 28

Blurring the lines between photography and painting, reality and imagination, this exhibition delves into the human psyche and body. Trained as a medical doctor, Ebbesen explores the intersection of science and art. Her works act as visual experiments, inviting viewers to interpret the body and mind through their own gaze.
