Community Gallery gives space to photography projects that speak to our time, bringing fresh perspectives and stories from both local and international artists. It is a place where art, everyday life, and meaningful encounters intertwine, sparking new dialogues.

My Story Is… is an exhibition series featuring students and alumni of the Photography Department at Pallas University of Applied Sciences, launched in 2023. The series centres on personal and often hidden stories that the artists explore through family photography.

A family photograph is not merely a memory, but also a form of staging: it preserves selected moments, creates a sense of belonging and continuity, and often leaves out the life that unfolds beyond the frame. It is precisely in this space between what is seen and what remains hidden that the works in the exhibition take shape. Drawing on personal experiences, the artists use photography as a means of self-reflection to explore relationships and stories that often have no place in the traditional family album.

The exhibition is accompanied by the publication Armastuskirjad (Love Letters).

My Story Is... is the inaugural exhibition of Fotografiska Tallinn’s new community gallery on the first floor. The project was selected through an open call held in August 2026. The exhibition will be on show at Fotografiska until 29 November 2026.

Fotografiska Community Gallery

Do you have a photo series or project that deserves more than life on a hard drive, in a drawer or on your camera roll? Fotografiska Tallinn invites local and international photographic artists, image-makers, amateur photographers and photography enthusiasts to apply for our Community Gallery – a gallery space on the museum’s 1st floor that runs alongside Fotografiska’s main exhibition programme, where art, everyday life and lively encounters intersect.

We are looking for works that speak to our time – projects that raise timely or socially relevant questions, offer new perspectives and spark dialogue. We are particularly interested in projects that engage with the world around us and can enter into conversation with Fotografiska’s wider exhibition programme.

Open Call 2027

Submissions to Community Gallery remain open year-round, with the next available exhibition slot opening in late 2027. The deadline for this round falls on World Photography Day, 19 August 2027.

Selected artists will have the opportunity to present their work in one of Fotografiska Tallinn’s most visible and accessible exhibition spaces – our Community Gallery. The exhibition will be supported by the museum’s communications, marketing and public programme activities to help the works reach an audience as wide as possible.

Production of the works remains the responsibility of the artist, but if needed, we can recommend trusted production partners to support the process. Both new projects and previously exhibited works are welcome.
