Stencil masterclass inspired by Shepard Fairey ‘Photo Synthesis’: portrait with Von Bomb
17th of November 14–17
The master class will take place on November 17, with registration open until November 9.
This autumn, Fotografiska beats to the rhythm of street art, serving as a stage for both international and local street artists. Kicking off the season is the solo exhibition 'Photo Synthesis' by Shepard Fairey, a cultural provocateur and leading figure in street art, which opens at Fotografiska on November 2.
Shepard Fairey’s work often features portraits, which inspired the stencil technique master class on November 17 at Fotografiska. Under the guidance of one of Estonia’s brightest street artists, Von Bomb, participants can create a portrait of themselves, a loved one, or another chosen person.
While participants work on their creations, Von Bomb will share insights about street art and stencil art. At the end of the workshop, participants will take home an A3+ portrait and the stencil they created, which can be reused later. The workshop is accessible to complete beginners and those without prior (street) art experience. Your artwork can also make a unique Christmas gift.
Von Bomb
Von Bomb, known by his real name Indrek Haas, is an Estonian artist recognized for his large-scale murals and stencil street art. He is also the creator of the largest mural in the Baltics, Ülemiste Girl.
Requirements
* After registering, please send us a portrait photo you’d like to turn into an artwork. This could be a portrait of yourself or a loved one you wish to gift. The photo should be sent to kaisamaarja.partel@fotografiska.com by November 9.
* Photos should be large, high-quality, sharp, and focused, with the face taking up most of the image.
* Please name the file with the participant’s name. If you’re unsure which photo might work best, you can send multiple images, and the artist will choose the most suitable one. In this case, add a sequential number to each file name.
* The better the photo quality, the higher the quality of the final result.
* Portraits taken by a professional photographer usually work very well.
* Young people aged 13 and up, as well as adults, are welcome to participate. Prior (street) art experience is not required for the workshop.
