Maru’s Workshop: Petals on Your Plate

6th of August 18.00

Maru töötuba

Anyone interested in the world of food has likely heard of Maru. A joyful food enthusiast in the best sense, Maru has passionately delved into the world of edible plants and blossoms that surround us with the seasons—yet remain surprisingly unknown in terms of their presence and health benefits.

On this special evening, the private room Nada at Fotografiska restaurant will be filled with flowers. This floral-themed workshop will focus on blooms that are far more than just a feast for the eyes. Their aromas bring joy and nourishment for the soul, and their flavors can brighten not only desserts but savory dishes too.

We’ll follow summery paths of discovery, exploring which blossoms can be used in the kitchen—whether found in the garden, along a roadside ditch, by the sea, or deep in the forest. You'll get hands-on, tasting pure blossoms, and sampling both sweet and savory bites, all infused with flowers. Maru will also bring along treasures from her own secret pantry.

Come alone or bring a friend—there’s plenty of space for discovery and summer inspiration, both for yourself and to share.

Maru

Maru’s story begins with a textile artist who finds her true inspiration not in fabric, but in food. She starts out as a food editor for Eesti Naine magazine, works in several restaurants, helps bring three fantastic cookbooks to life (the latest one titled “Maru’s World of Flavors”), and never manages to ride her bike home without picking a wild edible carrot or a purple blossom from the roadside. Most of us would put that flower in a vase—Maru knows exactly how delicious it is.

She brings her refined eye for beauty and aesthetics into every dish she creates, which might be why her food is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate.
