Shepard Fairey: up close with Heikki Källu (ENG)

5th of March 18.00

Shepard Fairey

Welcome to a special English-speaking tour of the Shepard Fairey exhibition at Fotografiska Tallinn. We are thrilled to offer you a unique opportunity to experience the art of one of the most influential street artists. The tour is hosted by Estonian entrepreneur Heikki Källu, who has previously lived in the US and not only followed Shepard’s work but also had the chance to meet and engage in an in-depth conversation with him at the opening events of this exhibition.

The exhibition Photo Synthesis is open until March 16th, making this a great opportunity to get a closer look at Shepard Fairey’s work before it ends. This is not just a tour of an exhibition – it’s an exploration of the intersection of art, culture, and political influence.

Shepard Fairey is one of the most renowned and provocative street artists, with over 135 murals worldwide. He made his breakthrough during the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign with the portrait of Barack Obama and the explosive rise of the OBEY clothing brand. Now, his art arrives at Fotografiska, bringing together earlier iconic works and new pieces created specifically for this exhibition, blending into a captivating visual experience in the exhibition Photo Synthesis.

The exhibition features over 200 works created by the artist in his Los Angeles studio using various techniques. His pieces showcase familiar icons from pop culture that have inspired him and influenced his work, such as David Bowie, Andy Warhol, David Lynch, and many others. Fairey also poignantly addresses events and figures whose actions have changed the course of the world.
