Rita Ray

Fotografiska transitions to summer time, and on May 31st, the enchanting Fotografiska backyard reopens.

Come and be part of the unique opening event of the courtyard, which marks the beginning of the first summer month and brings to the stage the crown jewel of Estonian soul music, Rita Ray, accompanied by guitarist and composer Johannes Laas. This outdoor event provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the captivating buzz of the beginning of summer, against the backdrop of a charming green oasis in the heart of the city.

Doors open at 5 PM, and the concert starts at 7 PM

RITA RAY

Rita Ray is the first true practitioner of blue-eyed soul in Estonia. After 10 years of choral singing in Põlva, seasoned by life in the capital and anchored in jazz studies, the vocalist, keyboardist, and composer released her debut album in 2019. Released on vinyl and digitally, "Old Love Will Rust" is an 8-track journey through the realms of soul and classic R&B, yet it also makes hips sway with a vibrant disco flavor true to the 70s.

Rita Ray truly captivates audiences in her live concerts, where her soulful, powerful vocals, memorable melodies, and danceability shine. Among others, Vaiko Eplik has said it's "the best domestic soul album of all time". Reviews from abroad, where her work has already made its mark, suggest it resonates beyond borders. Tracks from the album have been played on popular UK radio stations such as BBC and Soho Radio.
