3rd of December 19.00

Lotte van Raalte

The Fotografiska exhibition “Ihualasti” / “NUDE” boldly, directly, and without constraints showcases the raw vulnerability and strength of being human. This time, the exhibition highlights the age pressure that accompanies women, one of the many pressing and thought-provoking themes it addresses. What is age pressure, and how does it manifest for women in society, the labor market, media, and even everyday life? Do women become invisible at a certain age? Why are women expected to conform to the beauty industry’s glorification of eternal youth and yearn for something that is literally unattainable? How can we embrace the positives of aging and confidently walk the path life has set before us? A woman’s body and experiences involve so much, most of which remains a taboo topic in society. We tackle this rawly, honestly, and unembellished, because age pressure affects us all, regardless of age and often in ways that lie beneath the surface.

Exhibition„NUDE”

Autumn at Fotografiska begins with a powerful start – the exhibition 'NUDE' opens its doors, showcasing the work of 32 female artists exploring the theme of the nude body. Among them are Estonian artistst Cloe Jancis and Marlen Kärema. Through various creative approaches, the exhibition breaks away from traditional depictions of the nude body, presenting it in all its shameless honesty and glory, with contemporary freshness and freedom from constraints, all seen through the female gaze. The result is an environment where expected roles no longer apply, habitual perspectives shift, and power hierarchies are overturned.
